Do You Need a Proofreader for Your Manuscript?
Whether you are a student with a dissertation and a tight deadline, an author who has just completed a first novel that’s ready for eBook distribution, or a business executive with a report due and a boss breathing down your neck, you need to have your manuscript proofread by another person—someone with a fresh pair of eyes and an unbiased view. Simple typographical errors and grammar mishaps can distract from your message. Your audience will miss the content if they’re too focused on the presentation. You need a professional editor or proofreader on your team, one whose job it is, day in and day out, to look for errors in writing. Although you may be an excellent proofreader yourself, it is not a good idea to try to proofread your own manuscript, as you risk overlooking your own mistakes.
